I don't get this. My PR on my site has not changed but some of my competitors sites have. I just looked at one that I check on a lot. This site is up to a PR of 5 now and they were a 3 I think. I can't figure out what she is doing. I tried to check her backlinks and she has a lot more then me in google but I can't figure out what they are it says showing 1 of 4 out of 30 but only shows the 4. There is another site that I look at that is a PR5 and almost all of their backlinks are from their own site. Why aren't more of my links showing up in google. I think they have to be a PR 4 to show up but I am only seeing a handful of them. I know I have more. Is this because google hasn't updated my site. And if so why would it have updated other sites?

Hi Patty.
Even if your PageRank is not showing on the toolbar and your backlinks are not displayed, don't worry. Google has already taken them into consideration in their PageRank and SERPs calculations. The "update" shows what is already, as far as Google is concerned, is a fait accompli. Already in the books. Google has updated your site, counted your backlinks, and has your PageRank tabulated. Don't worry. ;) As for your competitor showing only 1-4 of 30 backlinks, do you see this message on a backlink check of their site: In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the X already displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included. If you do see that message, the nondisplayed links are usually more links, from the same sources over and over. You see that situation lots with sites with many incoming links. If you check mine on Blog Business World, for example, the message appears after only 20% of the links are displayed. That tells me that I need more link diversity. I hope that was helpful for you.

if you feel comfortable enough, maybe you should post the site in question so people can look into it and maybe give you a better idea of what they're doing...

Well if it's your site: link:www.justmommies.com
It only shows 12 backlinks. and none of those backlinks have more than a PR5.

Usually google only shows a link to you in backlinks if the page is rank 4 or higher and is a related field. I think you may need to rearrange your page structure---you may be losing pr to other pages. However, since google changes is criteria every month........ I had the same problem with my wife's site. Keep at it and eventually you'll get there.

Hi Patty,
Keep working on your site and your page rank will rise. It takes time but good web sites attract links and pagerank. I had some trouble with one client web site it was a PR5 forever, then it became a PR6, then it droppend back to PR5 and has stayed there for a year. Hi Crichey, Your wifes website is doing ok, it has a pagerank 5 and plenty of good rankings. It is an idea not to put so much space between your post and the link, since it easily could be mistaken as a hard coded signature link. ;)

Maybe your competitors have lots of links hitting internal pages?

If as EGOL says, that Patty's competitor has her site map set up properly to disperse PageRank, her PR5 home page could be propgating many PR4 internal pages. The internal pages with PR4, of course, would be displayed as backlinks.
With there being no backlink and PageRank display for awhile now, perhaps patience is the best policy to follow. Google has taken all of the backlinks, whether from external or internal sources, into consideration. They are simply not being displayed as of yet. When the already accounted for backlink and PageRank totals are made public, we will have a better idea. Wayne Hurlbert |

I do have more than these sites that are listed with PR4 or more. So I don't know why they aren't showing up. I think maybe its just cause they haven't updated. Because these twelve sites have been the same twelve for a while now. I don't really feel comfortable posting the site in question but I would really like it if I could PM someone with the link so they could take a look and let me know what they are doing right. But the good news is I am ranking better for my keywords so maybe I should just be happy with that.

The most important thing is ranking better for your keywords.
Incoming links and PageRank are the means to get those better search engine placements. Since your site is rising in the SERPs, Google is obviously noticing, and approving of your efforts. :-D Once you get the visitors to your site, the key is to then convert them into customers and forum members. Keep adding content and backlinks with powerful anchor text. Google and the other search engines wil find them and reward you accordingly. When the backlinks and PageRank for your site are finally made public, you will likely get a wonderful surprise. Wayne Hurlbert |

Thanks for the pep talk. I am going to work on getting more backlinks. I kind of stalled out on that because I have had a ton of other stuff to work on lately that had to be done. This month is going to be the month my PR goes up.

Patty -
I think it's high time you changed your sig back to give yourself a link to justmommies.com; you've been a solid contributor since you got here and thus should be rewarded for it -- you needed the backlinks anyhow. Cygnus

I have a really high strung personality in case you hadn't picked up on it. Oh and I have a bad case of paranoia. LOL. I was feeling like you were thinking I was just posting a lot to get links. I wanted everyone to know that wasn't why I come here. BTW you see my log. I see SEO all over it.
