False PR reading.....

Ever see this happen?

this page is showing a PR6 - with hundreds of backlinks....

But those sites arent linking to me from what I can see.....

Anybody make any sence out of this?

This is pretty weird but if you look at a cashed copy of the page - it's a godaddy 404 page - I found a url that was off on my pages...

instead os minigolf.html I had mingolf.html...

Therefor it threw a 404 at googlebot.....

The crazy thing is - that 404 must be the same 404 that godaddy throws everywhere..... maybe all thoses sites are sites that threw the 404....

But I'm actually holding the PR - Thats the weird thing...

How the heck does google assign PR to a 404 and direct that PR at one site...

so...perhaps all of those backlink sites have at least one link to a bogus page that resolves to that 404 page?

Exactly - but isn't that really wierd that I would hold the PR into the original page?

as soon as the 404 redierects back to the right page the PR should go away - but the page is holding it... It somehow assigned the pR to the page itself..

Hey - I'm not complaining....

But there something too easy about that....

I betcha my link on page nine of those results was the page that threw the 404.....

you will probably keep the pagerank only until google runs into the next go daddy page that throws a 404.
then that page will get it.

Hope it leaks into my site first....

I will definetly be watching to see what happens...
