Hellow all,
I have a website which is 99% original news content, www.crnews.net, however I have reproduced 2 (out of about 100) articles from other sources on my site in accordance with fair use principles, (reprint permission granted as long as author credited, with hyperlink to original source, and original copyright holder acknowledged. I've had this content up for a couple weeks. Should I bring it down so I don't lose my PR, (currently PR 5 on my home page.) According to another post elsewhere, someone said that if you have just ten or so words which are duplicates of another site then you can be nailed by the duplicate content filter. I don't get it though. What about the widespread practice of "fair use" reprints? I've seen high PR sites whose content is almost entirely "fair use" reprints of material from other websites. SO what's the deal? Is there an allowable maximum of reprinted material on a website, or no safe minimum? IN the latter case, how do these websites based almost entirely on reprints, (ex. www.rense.com with PR7) get away with it? Thanks, one and all. |
