I don't have any links to help you (I never remember those, lol) but can tell you that PR isn't all it's pumped up to be ;).I'm guessing you means the Google Search engine and not the Google Directory, for this question (If not ignore my long answer)
If you have great keywords in your Title, good description and content (like keywords through out your page) and no tricks, you can easily place #1 in the engines w/o a high PR.My site is PR5 (was PR6 at Christmas *sniffle*) and I'm #1 for almost all my keywords, if not, then at least the top 10.That's just pure Title, Description and content-and trust me, I'm a total newbie at this stuff

.Google like good Titles, etc-I've done two other sites so I know it holds true
ex. here's my title, which is almost the same as my description: Buddy Blankies,Handmade Baby Security Blankets Lovey Blanket Blankie.Satin/flannel for teething -if you look under most combinations of these, you'll find me (although this is my new one so not sure Fresh Bot has grabbed it yet, but you get the idea). It holds keywords I know people are searching for (baby security blankets, blankies, baby lovey, etc) and Google grabs those, hence I get the good results

The only place high PR puts you at the top is in within the Google Directory, where the sites are listed by PR score.PR really does not have a factor in the search index unless you're PRO or banned.OR below 4 I think...you might get listed but not well, since Google likes PR4+ sites...
As written in another post, you may have a PR7, but do you have visitors?
Sorry, hope this helped in some way, lol
