Cant get my page rank off 0 !!

Guys I need some help here, I have tried everything that I know of and can only assume that there is an issue with my keyword or meta tags that I am unaware of.

The site in Question is www.ellys-flowers.com all pages within this site have a page rank of 0 they have never had a page rank at all. The site has been live since Feb 04.

There also seems to be an issue with backward links, I have links off several sites if you do a search on ellys flowers on google you get numerous returns off other web sites, yahoo, DMOZ, microsoft and numerous others but these dont show up in the backward links page.

I need to get the profile of this site up on keyword search as we are launching our online store soon and need to see a higher rate of hits off keywords and not company name.

Any assistance anyone can offer will be a great help

Bryan, nice looking site. It might be that my T1 is bogged down, but it seems to take a long time to load. That aside, you have a backlink problem. You show zero on the toolbar and only 9 out of 170 showing overall. You need to get bl4+ sites to link to yours using anchored text with your primary keyword. This will take work, but you will not get anywhere unless you get those relevant quality backlinks. I would submit to every free directory you can find under your category also. Remember, backinks... backlinks... backlinks (preferably one-way if you can). :-D

Submit your site to DMOZ.
Also get backlinks from web pages with PR of 4 or higher.

Why do people keep gibving this advice? DMOZ is crap, 2 of my sites are listed in a PR0 page there, and I get no traffic from them either. Not worth it, better spend your time getting some good links.

don't waste time on dmoz. it's unlikely they will list your site even you get only PR0 and traffic zero.

DMOZ is the only way you will get into the Google direcotry....

Try visiting http://clasione.proboards3.com/ to gain some more backlinks....

I had a site with a white bar for at least 3 months, then suddenly I had a PR4. So I would so just be patient, if you have links to it, google will find you and give ya some green ;)

Good comments, but I do have a question. My site's home page is PR4, and I show no backlinks on the google toolbar. My site is currently down, but I checked this just yesterday. I have not actively sought any backlinks, and it's just an online store selling hard items...not likely to be listed on too many sites becuase of the content

I totally believe in getting oneway links into your site. After I relaunch my site, I'll aggressively pursue them - but does anyone know how a site could get a PR4 with basically no links into it?

A well structured website with sufficient content and strategic outgoing links will generate pr up to 5 on it's own.
It's not entirely dependant on backlinks - although I've never been able to achieve beyond a pr5 without any!
