301 redirect and PR
does anyone know if PR definatley transfers from url's that have been permantly redirected (301)?
Just before the last deepcrawl of my site on the 3rd Nov I redirect around 1100 pages within my site to new url's i.e /cat1/cat2/prod1.php to /cat1/prod1.php but upon checking the new PR that was showing this morning, PR has not transfered to my new pages. All old urls had been removed from index and just after the last PR update at begining of Nov. New url's since 3rd have had PR0 and old url's had PR2-3 which I had hoped was going to transfer. New url's this morning were showing a new PR1-2? Thanks in advance |

Hi GAJ,
I wouldn't worry to much about a PR 2 or 3. Depending on the relevancy to your site, with one link from a PR 4 page you could achieve a PR 4 yourself. I wouldn't count on the PR transferring. My advice is that you start looking for people to trade links with! Ninnie |

Thanks Ninnie
It would just have been nice not to have taken a step back for a couple of months, but no worry. Thanks again P.S. Regardless of PR, I will post here again if I ever do find out that PR transfers using 301 redirects. May be of use to somone one day ;) |

Some value is passed with a 301 but not all. I do it to my sites all the time.
