Who is this guy? It's one thing being wrong, but to be so wrong and be cocky and picking fights with one of this forum's best and most knowledgeable members is just amateur. Why are you trying to bait Fathom for?

As Fathom says you are so wrong, you are just making assumptions based on very little knowledge and testing.

It's not at all... You don't even need to see a .tv know there isn't any validity to his claim.

Ranks are from links [mostly]

...and to a much lesser extent the domain name [to the left of dot]

next site architecture, and navigation, keywords in urls,

... and to a far lesser extent alt="", and body text.

In there somewhere you'll get help based on regional stuff like where the domain is hosted -- uk host helps in uk, and uk based domains help in uk and links from uk hosted website and uk based domains help more to a uk-based market - but that doesn't infer any "loses" everywhere else outside of a uk - which is what someone else is suggesting.

At the end of the day even a .tv domain can easily compete in a uk archive and beat uk based domains just by get more uk based-links to it.

That said: this isn't about 'mine is bigger than yours' it's about offering bad advice base on bad observations and poor assumptions and when this occurs you won't ever see me saying "who cares"!

Thanks for the input fathom. I do reasonably ok with the seo for a UK domain i already have (currently about 7 on page 1) but i just dont have any experiance with TV domains.

My UK domain is hosted on my UK VPS but if i take on the TV domain it will be hosted in the US as i need the cheaper space and bandwidth.

excellent question anyone have a .tv .be .bz or any other island tld that is not a major country ie .it .fr .uk .ca that list well

just show me one that does not have 10s of 1000s of links

I knew you could not back up your words with any proof? show me an example! of a island domain that ranks well that does not have 10s of 1000s of links.

Maybe Fathom can step up and deliver on his rude behavior and prove he had something to yell about, something to attack this guy for (which even if he can prove his point, which I don't think he can it still doesn't give him the right to treat people in this way)..

So I say Fathom, prove this Searchresearch guy wrong or apologize to the man for being so rude towards him. If he is right or wrong, it's still no reason to talk to a person like that.
