Word Press Seo
Hello,
My name is Scott Sheldon and I am new to this website. I have recently taken the plunge to start getting into the search engines in Google and have created a website with a word press add on. My website is called sonoma county mortgages . com.The website is about getting a mortgage in Sonoma County. Other than adding new content on a rake or basis and getting websites to link to me one of the concerns that I cannot seem to get my hands around is making the layout a little bit more friendly. I keep hearing that search engine optimization is, utilized with Google spiders for the first few pages of the website. Does anybody know how to update a Word Press blog so all the recent posts appear on the home page? I was also curious if there is a way to change the heading below my website when it's ranked in Google? What I mean is when I type into Google "Sonoma County mortgages" my website is about the sixth it so far and the little caption below is what I'm trying to change but I have not figured that part out yet. Any ideas?
I'm looking forward to posting and sharing ideas with the forum~!

Hi Scott, the details of your layout can be worked out easily enough, there's lots of wordpress forums
The "caption" on the google page (we call it a snippet) is usually your Description tag. Install the All in one SEO Pack to update these descriptions easily.
For just a few hundred bucks you can find a freelancer to get everything set up for you.

Hi Scott and welcome to the forum
Would agree with KernelPanic on this one.
Also the All in One SEO plugin, is a great way to make your WP pages and site in general, more search engine friendly, so would recommend. Its easy to use and prompts you to enter info which you may well miss.

thesheldon, you can go into Settings > Reading and under "Front page displays: select your latest posts. Doing this, you should make sure you use snippets on the front page and use the <!--more--) tag so the front page only displays the first few sentences of each post. Doing this will prevent you from creating duplicate content. If you display full posts on your homepage, your visitors will have no reason to really click through your site as they can read it all on one page. This should also help theme your site.
As mentioned already, All In One SEO is amongst the best plugin for Wordpress.
