    Will I be penalised by Google

    Hi Guys,

    I have designed a site using iframes, not that I like the idea but the customer is all ways right

    Any way, can I use this code below without being penalised by Google:

    <script>
    if (parent.location.href == self.location.href){
    // change the url below to the url of the
    // frameset page...
    window.location.href = '../../index.htm'
    }

    </script>

    So all of my iframe content pages will have this code with in the head tags, and when the page is clicked on in the serp it will redirect to the index page.

    If this is not the best way to do it could you suggest another way please?

    Also will Google find the iframe content pages?

    <iframe src="text/account-intro-t.htm" width="510" marginwidth="0" height="440" marginheight="0" scrolling="auto" frameborder="0"></iframe>

    or do I have to link directly from the index page for them to get indexed?

    Many thanks for your help guys

    Stay away from iframes. Aside from being old, and unneeded google directly warns against their use. There are much better methods than Iframes. Explain to the client why he/she should choose a different method. I tend to doubt it would be that big of a deal on their side.

    Here's what happens if you use iFrames: the only way the content will get indexed is if the search engine finds the page that's the source of the iframe. The page that frames the content is not going to give the search engine access to that content.The customer is not always right.

    No neccesary, you can program a protocol that when people click enter the website from google go to the respective url using the framer and the frame, you can program a type of 301 but without redirecting the bot only the users.

    Thanks for your reply's

    But I wanted to know if this code was ok to use (don't think this was answered):

    <script>
    if (parent.location.href == self.location.href){
    // change the url below to the url of the
    // frameset page...
    window.location.href = '../../index.htm'
    }

    </script>

    so all iframe content pages are redirected to the home page.

    I have designed and nearly completed site as it is and then she mentioned seo so going to have to stick with iframes.

    and will have to set up a site map so the iframe pages gets indexed.

    But the main question is will Google penalise me for using the above code?

    Many thanks for your help
