    Will this hurt me?

I have www.injectedperformance.com as my main site, but i recently launched www.evo8.com as a directed audience site. We have found that the vehicle specific sites do better in our forum advertising campaigns than more generic sites do. My concern is that the SEs may not like both because the share the same database.
    Is this a problem?

I am a content scrapper. If you need to obtain and process big data, pm me.
I have a multi-threaded spider that runs on several ec2 instances.
I have been crawling twitter, and other big guys for a while. Outputs: SQL, XML, CSV, MYSQL, TXT

Both sites are on the same server and share the same database, descriptions, part numbers, etc. Basically duplicate content on two sites owned by the same company.
The forums reference was to me being a vendor in various forums. Im just wondering if this is going to hurt me in google

Even if they were on different servers you would likely get a dup content penalty or filter.

So i couldnt run both and share the same database? Is it possible to host them on different servers without as much of a penalty? Will it hurt as bad if i remove the links?

What if i were to remove all the EVO8 products from the Injected website. they would still have the same ip but the only duplicate content would be some of the universal parts. would that make it not as likely to get penalized

If you were to move to different servers and modify the content as little as 10-15% you would likely get away with it. We run highly similar content for each of the 50 states in the U.S. without a problem, but we make sure there is enough difference in the on-page stuff to keep from triggering a duplication filter on Google. Has worked so far.

A dup filter lets the stronger (possibly PR or age of page or both) of the duplicated pages exist in the Google index and blocks the dupicates.

So, let me see if i understand (sorry, im a newbie and still quite the idiot), I could gamble, leave both sites as is, and hope that google indexs my main page and blocks the duplicate. Im not concerned with Evo8 ranking well, we use it only in our forum marketing campaigns.
Or at the same time, it could hurt both sites rankings?

If you're not concerned with Evo8 rankings, why don't you use 301 redirection to redirect the evo8 site to the other one?

    • incdeveloper agrees : true
    • SEO_AM agrees : I would do a 301 back to my power.

301 is a type of redirection using something called .htaccess file that is store in your server, there is tipicall redirection but this will hurt your website with 301 google will not hurt you.
