it is best not to use variables. prob worth trying to write a script which strips them out.

If there is a link to it then they will index it. Url variables that are not session id's are fine as long as there aren't too many of them.

It is preferred not to make page names with variables, but search engines can spider these pages also. I am having a page with variables in URLs and is in the Google index. I you want to see them I will give you the URL. This is a new site and all the database driven pages are already in index.

Google will index it. But its better to use URLs without "?" in it. Static looking URLs have a better chance to get indexed. Even though google can index dynamic links too, they limit the number of URLS they do.

Nope. They limit the number of parameters in a url string - can't remember what to but I think three is safe.

Otherwise there's no difference in terms of indexing. Google might limit the number of pages it will index for a site on the basis of link trust, but that applies equally to static pages and dynamic pages.

Actually, having said that here is Google's official word on the subject:
Quote:
Yes, Google indexes dynamically generated webpages, including .asp pages, .php pages, and pages with question marks in their URLs. However, these pages can cause problems for our crawler and may be ignored. If you're concerned that your dynamically generated pages are being ignored, you may want to consider creating static copies of these pages for our crawler. If you do this, please be sure to include a robots.txt file that disallows the dynamic pages in order to ensure that these pages aren't seen as having duplicate content.

So, if you really want to be safe then you might want consider a rewrite to static pages. I wouldn't trouble to do this, though, unless you were sure that Google was having problems indexing the dynamic pages.

That variable will not give you a probelm at all ! Google will index it and treat it klike any static html page. expect it to rank quiet well.

Problems come when you have sites comprised of nothing but dynamic pages, google seems only to have problems in assiging visible PR top static pages. Which means we may have a problem in working out the strength of links from dynamic pages.
