Why google shows different ranking while checking on separate PC's?
One client told me he sees ranking at first position. I had to check this and seen obscure result that this URL is even at second page. Is this usual as we are maybe in different town but the same GEO country.

Are you 100% sure? You mean this is double reason:
1. Google login reason...I'm not sure influence...
2. Web history which can be deleted by CTRL F5 in Mozilla....

You can defeat the personalisation by bookmarking a query in your web browser like this
http://www.google.com/search?q=widgets&pws=0
the pws=0 switch eliminates the personalisation in the result set.
Every time you use the browser bookmark you should then be able to get a worthwhile rank check without having to log out of your google account.
You can also use a rank checking tool like the seo rank addin for Firefox, although that fires up the whole auto-querying search engines / TOS violation debate.

Have your client use an anonymous proxy like pagewash.com or proxify.com. If you continue to check your results from the same PC, you run the risk of gettning into personalized search results which basically tell you what you want to hear. Likewise, alwas make sure you are logged out of your Google account as that too may skew the results.

You don't need to use a proxy, just read the following:

You see your search results are based on your past search activity on Google. This customization includes searches you've done and results you've clicked.
Probably some CONS from Google as the should have link like:
click Disable customizations based on search activity as you are Signed Out...
Maybe this can be marketing issue as SEO friends will have pure results on the fly even Signed In.

follow above instructions + Use proxy sever to find ranking. double check the locality of proxy server and also check the IP address of the proxy server. this gives you accurate raking.

Can you be more clear regarding 'Use proxy sever to find ranking. double check the locality of proxy server and also check the IP address of the proxy server. this gives you accurate raking'.

Could anyone elaborate a bit more on this point, or post a link to a previous thread.
Is it likely using the Page Rank tool in Firefox will result in your website being penalised?
