Why do sites like this outrank me?

I thought I had been doing a good job of clawing up the SERPS after launching our site in January until I looked at some of the sites above me in the results, and I can't for the life of me, figure out why they would be showing up above my site when they have lower PR and keyword density. Any thoughts that point me in the right direction would be much appreciated as my co-workers are wondering what the hell I've been doing for the past few months.

    Target Keyword: "Surfing Video"

My website (this page ranks out of the top 100):
    http://www.totalvid.com/?intSelectedIdnt=6689976

Here are a few competitors who are outranking me:
    http://www.bungersurf.com/Merchant2/...ry_Code=1000-9 (position 9)
    http://www.surfermag.com/av/ (position 3)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/guernsey/surfing/video/index.shtml (position 13)

biggest problem i see after looking at your site for 3 seconds is the URLs.

Is that because Google can't properly index them or because having my keywords in the URLs would improve rankings? I'll definitely do that, but suspect that there may be some other problem given that pages like this outrank me: http://www.nauticfriend.com/index.ph...cat&catid=2150

    Dude -

You are doing well in many ways, but your on-page could definitely improve - put the keyword phrase as the first line in your title and try to use it and derivatives (semantically related words) in h1, h2, h3

Try to have about 1.5%-2.5% keyword phrase density on the page.

Also, way to go on backlinks. I don't know how the heck you got 6300 links to your site but that's amazing. You've also got 1570 pages indexed by GG, way to go again.

Here's the lowdown on your #1 competitor (surfvideo . com):
    4570 pages (done with site:url.com)
    480 links (done with "url.com" -site:www.url.com)
    313 indexed backlinks - means they're old & gold to GG(done with link:http://www.url.com)
87 highly related links (done with "keyword phrase" "url.com" -site:www.url.com)
When I use allinurl, allintitle, allinanchor & allintext I don't see your site in top results either, keep going 'til you get there.

Once you beat this guy in all these areas, come back if you're still not #1. Good luck!
