Why do google ignores me?
hi
i opened a t-shirts shop 3 months ago. big-t-shirts.com at start i aimed at big sizes (up to 8xl) and very quicly arrived to 4th places on google on some keywords. which i consider success. but then i decided to change the focus of the shop to more general term like "t-shirts", and i'm not in the first 1000 results. (yes, 1000 !). does anybody have an idea why google ignores my shop for the term "t-shirts" ? have i done something wrong? it has h1, tytles. alt's, etc. it has quality incoming links (pr3 & 4) that google ignores. what do you think of the shop? have i done something wrong that i'm being punished for ? thanks lenny |

You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong. It's probably just that your site is too young and has too few links to rank for highly competitive phrases like "t-shirts".
Try building more links, and target the easier phrases for now. As your site gets older and more linked to, you may eventually start ranking for tougher phrases like "t-shirts" too. |

3 months is nothing in term of SEO. Keep working on ur links building and content creation, do you have a blog in your website?

The initial effect you saw was the result of the "New sites" google bot - it is actually a separate spider - that will include you and give you some decent result -- usually in the first month your site is in operation.
The goal is google wants to give new sites a chance - and keep their results fresh with new content - and not just the big guys. The problem is that the New Bot wears off - and gradually you have to make it or break it in the real search engine. Start working on back links and good link exchanges with high quality & high traffic sites. PM me for details on a way to build links quickly. |

Separate bot? I have never heard that I would be interested in seeing how you know this. Also if you want to share your secrets on building links you ought to use the forum as that is why your a member not to entice people into PMing you to (in my experience) offer a service |

Basically you have gone from targeting a less competitive phrase (big t-shirts) hence it's is easier to rank, and tried to instead target a very generic VERY competitive term.
To rank for a keyword that competitive will take alot of time and money, I think you were on the right lines trying to compete for a niche phrase like large/big t-shirts. |

It takes a lot of time to rank for a very competitive term. What I suggest is focus on less competitive terms first because it offers a lot of advantages. a. Less resources to reach 1st page. b. More specific and direct to your products, hence will give a higher conversion rate than broader terms. c. Higher ROi, less cost (because of lesser resources) and higher sales because of good conversion.
