Which is a reliable backlink count?

Hi! everyone
I want to ask about backlink

if you put "link:" on search engine with page URL
you can see count of backlink

but
MSN,Yahoo and Google give us different result

which is the most reliable result?

Well the most reliable one is Yahoo because it counts nearly every link pointing to your site but if you are looking for quality links then check at Google it shows only the quality links.

I disagree with the statement about Google.
A few years ago the only backlinks showing in Google were PR4+ (...or was it 3 ) anyway... nowadays the backlinks shown in Google don't follow any pattern at all.

The fact is that MS normally shows the highest number, then Yahoo, then Google... as for "quality" there's no correlation at all.

I would not use the Google backlink count at all. It is a cross-sectional sample only, i.e. no reliable estimate of actual number or PR levels of backlinks. I would only use Yahoo and MSN.

I completely agree with this comment. Some times (In Google) we find guest books links also. We can't say this as a quality link !!!!
