What type links should i target?
I am starting a review site, that is a comprehensive review blog of a speific type of product, while there are numerous sites out that have reviews of one product here and there. I am creating a collective of sorts. What type links should i target for my site?
My site targets people looking for Pro Gaming Headsets
Should i try and target blogs? or manufacturers or seller? not many of the other review sites really have established back links to the actual reviews.

You'll probably want to develop a strategy to attract links from each sub-segment. Manufacturers approach different then say bloggers (related bloggers btw). But both would be worthwhile links to get.

Indeed, just finding it hard to get quality back links when many of my google results competition are links to direct products, rather than reviews or info. still developing my strategy here, i doubt i would need a massive amount of high quality links to quickly begin progressing up ranks as most of the keyword competitors dont have many backlinks.

Aim to be the best possible Internet Resource for pro gaming headsets. Then post links to your own content on social media sites and blogs. Others will link to you if you are the best.
