What are the most important things to pay attention to as you develop your site?

I'm in the middle of setting up a web site to help new and old webmasters track the progress of their site in search engines and its development. So it would basically track and notify them of changes to a wide variety of things as well as let them see the history of their site's development. Also have stats, % change etc.

So what would you want to be tracked over a period of time to help gague your traffic building etc?

    So far I have:
    1. Google PR Ranking
    2. Dmoz Inclusion
    3. Number of Backlinks in lots of search engines
    4. Alexa count
    5. Monitoring keywords you choose and your site's position in Google on them over time

What else would you like to see or is missing?

    Thanks, Ben

URL Trends is doing exactly the same thing. Maybe you can check them out and get some ideas.

I'd like to see a tool that monitors backlink growth for my fav pages over time. I enter the page names and the tool sees how many bls are reported at yahoo and plots that over time. This would require a tool with log in and database recording. This would show me the results of natural link growth or link building efforts.

^^ I'd go there for that too.

Additionally, how about maybe something capable of checking potential link partners status? I'm not really sure how to do this, but it'd be used to avoid the linking of banned or penalized sites. Maybe something that checks their links, no links would indicate an unworthy partner; as so many would show a thumbs up. Just an idea, but I think it'd be useful.

check out seo elite, they're program works great. Tracking dmoz inclusion and page rank imo is unnecessary to have a tool for b/c they are more static.

Tools that track backlinks and serps are very useful.
