What is missing from our SEO strategy?

    Helloes,

    Hope you're all well.

So I've been working on my first SEO campaign and recently achieved our first longtail keyword on page 1 of Google with others on the way. The keywords we're working with are £60-£80 ($95-$125) per click in a PPI campaign, which might give you an idea of how competitive things are in this niche. I think?

I've got some professional journalism experience and have been using it as leverage to write for niche blogs and publications, generating good anchored backlinks from decent, relevant PageRanked sites. This is a time consuming process but it seems to be doing well and this has been the mainstay of the campaign.

I appreciated there are hundreds of tiny aspects to a good SEO campaign, but I'm hoping to get some other things I could be doing. I've been posting news blogs on our site too. All content (offsite and onsite) have been posted on Linked in, Twitter, Facebook and G+. It's not a particularly 'popular' niche per say, so social sharing is probably minimal.

I've also been doing some (not many) comment and forum backlinks on relevant websites and a smattering of directories and the like. Didn't want to overdo these.

Our developer is taking care of that side of the SEO. Onsite formatting, such as H tags etc etc etc is, all in shape.

What else, as a copywriter and non-programmer, could I be working doing?

Wow £60-£80 per click! That pretty intense bidding.

It sounds like you are doing a lot of things right. Maybe you could work on some linkbait, like a really well researched piece of content which finds some interesting conclusions. Then, most importantly, promote it to the types of people who might be interested in telling their readers about it. Of course it's all easier said than done.

Thanks for the response. This is exactly what I'm working on at the moment, an article which I think I can get published on the BBC or another major UK news publication, at least one their blogs.

I know this OP is a bit long, but would really appreciate any help!

Could I be doing more social media stuff perhaps? Other than post all my content and gathering followers where possible? Any suggestions welcome.

Okay, thanks. Maybe I'll try to be more active on more forum communities.
