Links!! Links!! and Links!!
I know link building is good..but overdoing it? Even to the extent of spamming people's blogs and articles..just to post a comment(actually a link to your own website).
How about writing a content of your own?
Optimising your META Keywords will make you rank better! - That one never dies!
Article submission
Content = King ???
Oh and I'm not even mentioning Keyword Density as a Set Rule
Also, it's funny how lots of people wrongly believe that some things have ANYTHING CONCRETE to do with efficient SEO. Examples: robots.txt, meta tags, title attributes, shared hosting, choice of separator char in the title element {sigh!}, TLD of the chosen domain, or indeed of the domain linking back to you, .... etc etc.

IMO The top SEO myth is 'Every little bit helps in SEO'. I see lot of guys here wrestling with h1,h2,h3 tags, alt tag, anchor text, validating HTML, CSS, strictly following on-page optimization guidelines laid down by seomoz, google and others and other mumbo jumbo. What we all actually need are relevant back links. Thats it.
That its better to go after easy to rank for long tails than the real money phrases. This is often coupled with an offer of $200 a month to SEO your website
That just about any free for all link will help you rank!
The average person who knows nothing about SEO believes that all we need to do is "tweak the page" and it will shoot to #1.
I tell them... build your site and see if you can kick my *** by tweaking the page.![]()

Well my favorite happens to be that all a site needs is links and it will rank. Links are NOT the be all and all of SEO.
Great thread btw.
IMO that strategy has been dying a slow death for at least the last year.Originally Posted by himanshu160

Greater the toolbar PR - greater are your ranks.
....duh!

Links are indeed the be all and all of SEO. Period!
I disagree, and I have been at this a long time. But I appreciate your opinion and value your input.Originally Posted by pro_seo

If you're not able to prove your point...then go back and remove your post...because all those amateur SEOs visiting this thread after today will deem your advice to be good and pass it on to others as well. There lies the big problem.
So prove it!
