    What is Duplicate Content?

I imagine the exact same web page on another server would be considered duplicate content. But would just the same text on another layout be considered duplicate content?

My first guess is "yes", but I feel you'd have to elaborate on that...

Unless the other layout would be rendered with an "alternate stylesheet" - of course.

I don't think anything below 50% is considered duplicate content on this tool, but I could be wrong.

50% of what? The text, the layout, the file?

With your content staying the same (i.e. no duplicate files), you can still have different styles of presenting that content. I'm using the method described here: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/alternate/

Another method would be to hide the "other" layout using your robots.txt file, but I guess the alternate css way is more modern, subtle and advanced...
