Went from page 28 to page 10 and back to page 28. Why?

So I'm targeting the phrase "Digital Scrapbooking" with this website: digitalexpressclub dot com.

I have always made sure to logout of google and clear cookies and all that before I search for my site using the search term, digital scrapbooking. For many months, the website was found anywhere between pages 26 and 30. Last week it got bumped up to page 10. But now it's back to page 28.

Do you know why it would do this?

The problem is not that your ranking increased then dropped again, the problem is focusing on the ranking without doing any seo.

It appears you own story tellers club too. I would recommend that you read as much as you can about seo, then revisit your marketing plan.

Focus on backlinking from quality sites, not sites that you own.

Hope this helps.

I thought I got to page 10 because of my seo efforts. I implemented seo-friendly urls and now we have thousands of products indexed on google. We are starting to get some backlinks from blogs and such. We updated titles and meta tags. We have accounts at flickr.com, facebook.com, twitter.com. We renewed our domain for 5 years. There is a little more work we can do... but I thought we did a lot and that's why we got to page 10. But now we're punished for some reason...

I don't believe you are being punished. I believe google rewarded you quite well at 28.

Are you the owner of story tellers club? If so, focus on quality backlinks.

Thanks.

No, I'm not the owner.

You're welcome.

If you are doing the seo for them, just to let you know, the domains are owned by the same person.

Jump Start

Hi Chris Paul,

For competitive keywords, it is rather difficult to jump that far quickly, unless it relates to some big sudden trend or whatsoever.

If you are doing an SEO campaign for your site, it will go up and up relatively slower than that.
