    Webmaster tools Problem

My Google webmaster account shows 19 files not found. All take the form of:

    http://www.domain.com/directory/filename.htm%20

    in every case the file
    http://www.domain.com/directory/filename.htm
    is an existing file.

I believe the %20 appended to the ".htm: signifies a space. The sitemap.xml shows nothing like that exists there. A search of the entire site shows links always have the quotation mark immediately after the .htm. (without the space)

How would Google want to find such a file that never existed. It is a big problem, because at the same time as the webmaster tools error showed up, my serps took a colossal fall, and the error and fall might be cause and effect.

Nobody is perfect, same google have lots of bug. Sometimes google show improper data in sitemap specially for 404 errors. May be when googlebot comes your site your server not respond well that time & this occurs.

IMO please wait for 5 - 7 days for next crawl & everything should be alright.

You might try a Find and Replace search for your entire site using variations of the URL's that Google is not finding. It's possible that you have a link somewhere with that space in it?

I have the same problem and was able to find a few bad links in really old pages. The majority of them were fine so I am at a loss of what to do next.
