Exclamation Webmaster tools keyword positions not accurate at all?

Ok, for one of my keywords its giving that im 11th position on average in webmaster tools.
But when searching google.com from another browser, without logging in, im no where to be found on the first 10 pages.

And that seems to be the case for a lot other keywords.

    Huh?

Webmaster Tools shows "aggregate data" and thus is presumably not limited to google.com but includes the regional Google's as well. Non-Google.com data is likely to be prevalent if your site is not hosted in the US, but in another country.

A further likely reason for the discrpancy that you are reporting is that Google rankings differ from one datacenter to another, so the location that you are checking your results from also matters. You can search in multiple G. datacenters using this tool.

i was more curious if other people are experiencing the same, or it accurate for the most of them?

    p.s.
its US hosted, i realize that there might be slight differences between the data centers, but still im no where in the first 100 results so...

    1. Differences between datacenters can be huge, not slight (as between being #1 and not being in the results)! Come the next data push, things will eventually even out, but if you are actively building and promoting your site and your rankings are changing fast, new results take a while to propagate. For this reason it's common for people in Europe and in the US to see different SERPs.

    2. Things always dance around in Google.

But to give you the short answer, yes, it's not unusual to see that data in GWT doesn't match the results of direct searching. I am reasonably certain though that what you are seeing in GWT did actually happen and is not due to a glitch.

If you search for your own web site while logged into your google account, it may flatter the results that you get as described. Because you ranked high on your own search.

Ouch, it worked fine until recently. I hope they fix it. Meanwhile, SEOchat's own multidatacentertool still works!
