Video content for seo
Hi guys
I am adding some video to my site to act as link bait (its a demo on the correct way to do stuff) but I also want it to help my rankings. Do I need to add text explaining the video's content in the body of the sight? And secondly will it make any difference to my rankings if I host it on Youtube? Any help will be gladly recieved ![]() |

What I do, and it seems to work quite well for me, is I make the video and include a logo/call to action (phone, email, website or all of the above) within the video (can be easily done with windows movie maker which is free to vista users).
I then save the video in .flv format and use a flash player to display it on the website (this makes it accessible to most users). I alwas name the video and the flash player something relevant like "how-to-wash-vehicle-properly.flv". I then upload it to youtube, metacafe, myspace, Flurl, etc... I then make the title and description relevant and include my url whenever I can. Thats it, some video take off like crazy and others just kind of go phhttt. The ones which do generate interest are generally: 1. on topic 2. Different, new or funny 3. Not overly branded 4. relative to a current event |

Have you ever used traffic geyser? I am doing Stomp the search engine 2 (by the way big up for this forum as they have not told me a thing that I have not seen on this site) I get 1 month free on traffic geyser so i am thinking that it cant hurt. Have you heard of it? |

Moing hosts wont be a problem. It only changes your ip, all relevancy is related to domain/page name not ip address. I have never heard of traffic geyser... Wish I could help more with that |

That was a very useful comment.... i will probably bookmark it! ------------------------------------------------------------- Googler is rigth, but in this case his advises will not help much because you want to host it on youtube. -I will advise you to host the videos on alot of video networks, and add a link to your blog/website to the description of the video. -Also try to categorize it properly. The same things with the tags, try to add as much as you can. I cant tell you much about this because this is something i haven't explore alot yet. I do know that google pull youtube's videos on SERPs, which means that he crawls it, and if your url is on the description it means that your website is linked to that video.
