Url SEO in html vs. php

We currently redesigned an html site into php/joomla. We are concerned about losing page rank on all the subpages since they are now different than the originals. What should we do at this point?

First I would fix the urls of the new site (eek!)

Second, in the Htaccess file I would 301 redirect all the old pages to the new pages - this will transfer page rank and stable search engine positionings to the new pages. works like a charm.

Quote:
redirect 301 /service.assess.htm http://www.yoursite.com/newurl/

Here's a Joomla seo tutorial. Hope this helps

Good advice above.

If you had the opportunity to turn back time a little you could have lept the file extensions to .htm or .html and put an add-handler-type declaration in .htaccess allowing PHP to be parsed in files with a .html extension.

Redirect.

Also, to be clearer about fixing the urls, You need to find and apply a good Search Engine Friendly Url Mod to your site. Right now, unless you have indexed pages linking to everyone of your product pages, Google will not find the dynamic urls.

Plus you can get somemore keywords involved and make it easier for people to link to.
