.EDU Questions
Hello. Luckily I am able to get links on .edu sites along with a short paragraph about the website. I have several questions about this and I was wondering if you could help. Here are the questions:
How many times should I link to the website in the paragraph?
How long should the blurb be if it is on a page with other Web listings?
Sometimes the listing is in a pdf, is it still just as effective?
Sometimes the link needs to be to a page other then the home page like: webaddress/page is this less effective?
Is there really a difference for SEO purposes for .gov and .edu sites as opposed to .com, .org. or .net sites?
I thought of another question. Should each listing on each .edu page be different? If so, how different?

Link Once. Any more on the same page don't hold any sway, so it would just look bad to stuff your blurb with links.
Make your blurb long enough to contain relevant data about your page, and to be of a pleasing length to users. A wall of text would be menacing, and a stub would be disappointing, so go for the middle ground.
I'm not sure about PDFs.
A link to a non-home page is excellent. They're called deep links, and if they have relevant anchor and surrounding text, they are some of the best links you can get.
There is no inherent difference for .edu domains. The increased appeal comes from the fact that .edus tend to have (tend to have not automatically have) more authority and relevance because they're set up by authority figures (universities etc) and are widely linked to.
If you can make each write-up different, that's good, because it decreases the odds of them looking like spam (not high in the first place though I would think) to Google et al.
