A tool to alert when the Dance is over.

Is there a 'Google Dance is Over Alert' email list?

    Seriously dood,

I know when the Dance is over that I have very little time left to make changes to my site before Google does it's deep crawl.

    maybe

    maybe it's really interesting.

BUT - who really knows when the dance is over. I think its much easier to control when the dances start.

    Isn't it?

I think you can see if the dance is over if all the datacenters show the same results on specific queries and these are carried on the main site also.

This result I don't think it's so relevant though, because the dance starts again in about 25 days. right? Why do you want to be ready for one dance in particular? Optimize your sitem and Google will crawl it when it's time comes. I don't think it's a good practice to optimize a site just before the dance begins. By then all the crawling is already done and all the operations related to the sites are carried internaly in Google.

IMHO you have to check when Google is crawling your site. When the dance starts, it means that the alll the sites have been crawled and all you have to do is to wait to be showed on the main site.

The reason it is important to know when the dance is over is because Google does not do the deep crawl until the dance is over.

Also, as soon as the dance begins, the results of previous efforts to optimize are apparent. If the results are not good, the window of opportunity is open as long as Google is still dancing. If changes can be made during the dance, then the site will be ready for the deep crawl and the results of optimization efforts will show themselves in the very next dance.

The problem is that apparently, Google does the deep crawl soon after the dance is over. If changes to a site have not been made prior to the deep crawl, your changes won't appear in the next update.

    your are right

    Hi Robert,

sure, the google dance is over, when the different data centers show the same results.

But you have to proove this with some different queries. If the google update is over, it is the start for us, to begin our optimizing.

When google crawls your website - its too late. Isn't it?

Yup. True. But... As I saw on my sites, Google does not send its spiders in one day. I have a site that was crawled three times (that means all the pages multiplicated by three) in an interval of one week. Shoud that mean something?

    Google Dance

I think the demand for a google dance alert tool would not be in high demand. You just have to prepare your website and hope that the google dance hasn't started until you have completed your on-site SEO. Someone ought to create a poll to see how many webmasters are actually interested in a google dance alert tool.

Congratulations: You have commented on an 8 year old thread regarding a phenomenon that hasn't occurred since the Fritz/Esmeralda update of 2003.

For me, I have the fool proof way of knowing when the dance is over:
It is when the music stops and the band/DJ goes home.
