    Title and Description Tags

In the Title and Description Tags should content be the same, totally different or is it OK to have some repetition. I get results with all three but wondered if there is a 'best practice' to aim for?

Yout title tag should be used to show you main keyphrases (as opposed to keywords)

Your description should be a proper description but using your keyphrases within it.

And remember that Google takes no notice of the meta Description tag anyway.

Not necessarily identical, but the main keywords should be in both.

    eg. <title>Blue Widgets from Widget.com<title>
<<meta name="description" content="Blue Widgets at discount prices. Top quality blue widgets for sale online.">

They don't match, but both do have the main keywords "blue widgets."
Note the keywords appear twice in the description tag. Once in capitals and once without.
What is a website without traffic?

Actually of all the meta tags the description tag is the most important and is factored in (albeit hardly at all.) It is the keyword tag that is ignored.

though google doesn't use them to calculate rank it will use the description if there is one for the... description.

Best way to make a description is to use a block of text found in the body copy and paste it in to the description.. Be sure it uses your keyword phrase.

This will improve your ranking on other search engines.

Any suggestions on the max length for the title (e.g. 20 characters, 200 characters, etc.. ).

You shouldn't have more than 60 characters in your title.

My personal limit is 7 words for title tag and as mentioned under 60 characters.
