Tips on SEO for my site
Hi,
Recently I posted a question in this forum but thought I'd rephrase my question. (to find it search for "why is my site not showing up in the search results")
I need advice on how to increase page rank and to get included in google search results for my keywords, which isn't the case right now.
Currently I'm in the process of removing duplicate content in google's index, but I guess that will take a few days (I edited robots.txt to exclude my old un-seo-friendly url's). I have also made a perment redirect to the www prefix when not used in the request. This way domain[dot]com will never be used without the www
1. Is the HTML looking ok?
2. What strategy to have while looking for good sites to link to me?
3. How important are outbound links, how to find out which outbound links are the best to use?
4. Anything else I can do?
Thanks
Johan Larsson www[dot]apartdirect[dot]com

Get the dup. content out a there, that should help a lot.
1. didn't really check your html code, run it through a validator.
2. just look for sites that aren't spammy.
3. outbound links are good for the site your linking to.
4. continue to build your content through-out your site.

thanks. I'll keep my eyes open on the index and check what happens.
Do you think my permanent redirect would help me together with removing un seo friendly duplicate url's (i.e. page.aspx?var1=1&var2=2) by excluding them in the robots.txt and are these actions the correct actions?
please also google "site:apartdirect[dot]com" and "site:www[dot]apartdirect[dot]com" to see my current problem with the google index.

I wouldn't exclude anything, I would redirect the duplicated content to the new URL.
Also, address any canonical issues and have the www. and non www. version of the site resolve to the same. Make sure your Google Webmaster Tools preferences match your server settings here.

Ok, I'll have a look a making a redirect instead of excluding, but for now I'll give this a test.
I have also talked to the folks responsable for the domain to forward any non www to the www subdomain and they both resolve to the same IP. This together with my permanentredirect in the asp.net code should do the trick

I would address the load time, http requests, code/image compression for starters.
