This is the worst case of spamming of I have ever seen.

My question is: Is there any way to get Google to pay attention to spam reports?

One of my competitors web sites shuttles between #1 and #2 for our primary search term. They run 11 sites with extremely similar content. All these sites sell the same item. Most of the content is images and not text, so I guess all algorithms will miss the duplication.

These some of these 11 sites have hidden owners and the rest are owned by the same guy. All 11 sites share three phone numbers.

I have submitted spam reports irregularly for the last half year, and the only thing that's happened is that their position improved.

The worst I have ever seen, maybe not the worst others have seen.

The search term = sofa bed mattress

The sites will be listed with the particular page that is most representative of the spam.

Please do not quote this as I have no idea if the post will benefit them or not.

The best ranked of the following is the first on the list

seatingsystem dot com/
airdream dot net/
sleeptherapeutix dot com/home dot html
hweb dot cpinternet dot com/seatingsys/online_order dot html
seatingsysteminc dot com/
seatingsystem dot net/flex/contact dot html
air--bed dot com
sleep-sofa dot com
adapticom dot com/AirDream/
sleepdynamix dot com/AirDream/
airdream dot us/order dot html

Any help would be appreciated.

Ignore them... the 11 domains is actually your advantage... their time on each in divided by 11and 10 domains are actualy supported by one...

If you focus on links and content for your one domain you will surpass them... they likely have more natural links than you so do more links.

Use ICANN policies to combat SPAM

Perhaps you are going about it the wrong way ....

http://www.icann.org/registrars/wdrp.htm
Quote:
At least annually, a registrar must present to the registrant the current Whois information, and remind the registrant that provision of false Whois information can be grounds for cancellation of their domain name registration. Registrants must review their Whois data, and make any corrections.
Report false info to the Registrar ... if they do not take action within a couple weeks, then report the Registrar to ICANN.

See InterNic's report form at http://wdprs.internic.net/

This also works for email spammers and scammers too.

EGOL agrees: grab their domains after they go down if they have any good links

OK well - it seems like a lot of non-productive work to get nothing much in return...

Let's say that 10 of those domains up and disappeared like a fart in the wind because you spent 10's of hours of competitive research on this...

So what do you get... an increase in ranks by 10 spots?

I doubt you will move up even one... "because you didn't improve your standings you just reduced the number of competiting pages... e.g. Results 1 - 10 of about 2,370,000 to Results 1 - 10 of about 2,365,000 -

WOW!

So many people complain that Google does little or nothing about spam complaints.

Of course we all know that they prefer to trap spammers on a large scale, so you can complain to Google and wait for an algo update ...

What's the difference? At least this gives them a more direct route to vent their anger.

Paid work vs. allowing a multi-billion company to use you for free...

In the end you helped no one but Google.

I know a guy who makes maultiple spam sites, corners the first page on the SERPs, make $2,000 a month for 2-3 month, and then google penalizes him. Google will get to them, eventually ... but complaining to google is still your best option.

While this is true, as a web surfer, after going through 3 near identical sites I doublt I'd bother going to page 2 in the SERPs. I'd rather try another search or another search engine.

So you are saying "spam" is irrelevant and therefore just wastes your time thinking about it, let alone doing anything about it.
