Thinking of building out a local directory, will Google penalize me for this?
I run a Los Angeles based blog which usually features reviews of local events and restaurants. I want to build out a directory of places I haven't been yet, and enable comments so that I can increase the scale of my site. There would be Restaurants --> Mexican ---> Don Antonio's and I'd have a link to their site and the address/hours.
I'm wondering if this would look like a link farm to Google and if they would penalize me for it. I could do it without links too, but providing links to the site would be a better service. |

As long as there is some content and you keep the number of links per page below 100 then you should be fine.
Especially if it is useful information for searches. Allowing comments will help build the content without you putting in any effort.
