The trailing slash
It has been suggested that I change all my internal home page links from index.htm to the absolute url. Is this a good idea?
Also, if I do this, I should add a trailing slash (www.mysite.co.uk/), as this is the format that Google shows in organic search results. And that Google will see an absolute url without the trailing slash as a different url. If this is true, what about Yahoo, which shows organic results without a trailing slash? 1. Yes, it's a good idea to link to the domain and not the index page. The full url with the www or simply a / will do.
2. The trailing slash is added by the browser anyway so I can't see it making any difference either way.
