The link to view Cached has disappeared! Help!
Hello everyone,
In the past few weeks i have notice that the link to view the cached site has disappeared and the seach results no longer displays my meta description. I my endless searching has found that people believe that this happens when google black list you. I never break any rules? Has this happen to anyone else? |

Try to use Google Webmaster tools. They will show you internal and external link back as well will show 404 error URL to. |

Could it be my robot.txt?
" User-agent: * Disallow: / " Would the command above stop google caching the site? The command above, suggests to me to disallow my root directory? Am I right or am I clutching at straws? |

Yes, your robots.txt is disallowing all the search bots to index and display content from your entire website. The cache link will disappear, the snippet will be gone and after a few days the Title of the pages will be dropped as well and you will be left with only the URLs of the pages. Edit your robots.txt file and remove the / which is blocking your entire website.

I found out that it has been accidentally copied from our test site in a live environment and as a result the number of pages cached has dropped from over 40,000 to 11,000.
Oops! Thanks guys! |
