    Suffix?

In terms of SEO, does the suffix matter? Like
    .com
    or
    .eu
    or
    .es
Specifically I'm looking to develop a property website for a town in southern Spain
Target audience would be English speakers in northern Europe, like UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Russia etc
And does it make any difference as to the location of the server where the website is hosted?
    Thanks
    Ken

as leftybogs said, it does depend on your location and website purpose. 9 times out of 10 though,it's .com or .net

Its better that you register a domain according to your audiences. For example if your services are for all countries .com domain is the best choice for you. But if your services limited to special country, register the domain for that country.

Generally speaking to target a Spanish *audience* get the .es domain and host in Spain if feasible. It also helps to get links from .es sites too. Make the domain look as Spanish as you possibly and practically can using these properties.

In your case because your web site isn't country specific I'd go with a generic domain.

Follow the example of others that have trod the same before.

Your trying to be pretty much like expedia.com, check out what they do. .com to start then regional domains for regional audiences.

If your dot com works well on Google.com, you'll have plenty of visitors on the regional engines too. Then consider the expense/hassle/ROI of creating separate regional presences for ranking on local engines. It probably makes sense to buy the domains at the outset.
