Question Subdomain for my Images folder

    Hello Genius,

I have a query regarding images folder of my website. My management is thinking about to redirect "eCommerce image folder" into sub domain folder.
I.e: current site is "123WC/images" but they want like "images.123wc" so subdomain will harm any SEO factor or not?

Please help me out. Could sub domain harm any kind of SEO factors of my website?

To me it's a waste of time, I'd leave my images in an image or what ever you call it like it is, a subdomain isn't going to accomplish anything.

    Thanks for your reply.
Actually all these tantrum is cause some seo experts says if you take your images on subdomain then you will get a good speed of your domain. So they are thinking about that.

And as they are asking about my final decision I want to ask you all experts so that i can make my final decision.

It's not waste of time. If they use any third party service like Ads, Analytics, Pixel Tracking or anything else which use cookie tracking, then cookie will also attach with every static request. But if you use cookiless subdomain/other-domain then it will slightly boost your pagespeed.

Regarding SEO it does not impact, checkout official words from John Mullear

Test-ok is quite correct, using a sub domain is a futile exercise.

The issue as I read this thread is delivery speed of images.

Using a sub domain keeps the images on the same server so there will be no speed increase. Actually there will be some overhead on the server because it has to process the sub domain and serve the image.

Using a CDN is not the same as using a sub domain. A CDN basically serves your site from a high speed server, and the "Domain Name" remains the same. Remember the CDN serves a "Cached" version of your page, it's really fast compared to normal servers. Just another reason Cache Control can be important.
