Strange? Can someone explain this strange google behavior?
When I search for my domain name, my subpages come up on the rankings, and i dont see my main homepage anywhere! Does that mean that it got sandboxed?
Example: Searching for "www(dot)mysite(dot)com" it says no results found, but when I do it w/o the quotes, I get the subpages of my site. Any idea why? ps- that's just an example site.. not really my site |

It is strange that your homepage cannot be found, without the url it is impossible to tell what happened. As for the quoting "domain address.com" in Google, doing this will show all internal pages and a fraction of your backlinks, all backlinks wont be shown to avoid people finding out who links to who. You can also quote your keywords as well, this will tell you exactly how many sites are competing for your keywords, example "keywords" on Google. |

ok, your site indexed in google but without www and your other pages are more powerfull than your home page thats why google showing those, you don't have any single of backlinks even I check in yahoo but yahoo is unable to find you. eeh??? underconstruction site???? don't expect anything if you do nothing. complete your site, write content, optimize it then expect for any good news(in your case, cached by google is also good news for you). -Ishu |

The site is only 14 days old, no backlinks, Google is probably indexing pages it finds, few backlinks and your domain will appear within a day. Stick your domain name on Twitter.com, also on yahoo answers, granted yahoo answers is no follow however it will still index the site you just wont get any link juice from the link. Just to add, also submit it to yahoo site explorer and google will pick it up anyway. Have you submitted a sitemap to Google webmaster tools? |

Threw your website on Yahoo Answers, figured it would index it over night, had to make up some excuse to post so stated it would not index and why in case anyone had another theory?

Hello, Maybe your website has been penalized by Google considering what you said. If your website doesnt came up when you type www.mysite.com probably is experiencing a penalization..try do do this: type on Google "mywebsite.com" (without http://www.) then, try the same thing adding a keyword like "mywebsite.com main keyword", if dont see your website, at 98% Google has penalized you. If you dont see the homepage within the first 5 positions you have been penalized by search engines If you want more info tell the name of your website to have a check Good luck |

My advice to you is: Read the whole thread. ...Then you can see for yourself why I disagreed with your first post. Read the comments in my post... You haven't explained why you think the robots.txt might be "an answer". A lot of people come into these forums asking about penalties... "is my site penalised", "I think my site is penalised by google"... etc etc It's (badly researched and poorly planned) replies like your first post above that perpetuate these rumours and waste people's time and effort in finding the real solution. There's no need for me to give a solution to the problem that the O/P is experiencing... it's self-evident if you read the whole thread. (You might also want to take a look at the forum rules before you get yourself into trouble)! Last edited by ClickyB : February 7th, 2010 at 10:40 AM. |

You are saying to me to read the thread well, I did. But I never wrote anything about robots.txt..where is in my post robots.txt?you say to me to read careflully but you dont, because I didnt write anything about robots.txt. I Just replied to a thread about a site that doesnt came up and I said that a he could be in a penalization as what he wrote in his question. Because if you dont see your homepage (but your subpages) when you type your domain it is possible you are incurring in a penalization by Google and what I wrote let you understand if you do or not. Anyone in this forum, and in SEO can disagree with others, but no one can say "garbage" at what other people think. Because you have to be respectful to anyone first and then because SEO is not a science and noboby knows exactly what Google does. Isn't it? Additionally what I wrote is a way to see if your website has been penalized or not. I replied to the first thread. I didnt see that website is very new, only 14 days old anyway. To finish, Im not tantrum but I dont let anyone to say "garbage" to what I think. Now, I have a question for you. I can be alerted about what I wrote, but saying "garbage" to other people is not a rude word..just to know how democratic we are.. |

Sometimes the reason why the internal pages of websites may have better ranks and Google positions than the homepages may be the matter of links pointing at them, especially if the pages contain some useful and informative pieces of news grabbing the attention of lots of webmasters and they decide adding links. It may also be a temporary issue, especially regarding the newly launched websites.
