Stop google showing your website under keywords

hello, my company has made a website for two companies. and for some crazy reason when you type in one of the companies names "landmark Chambers" into google. the other one comes first - childrens heart federation!!!

is there a way of banning keywords so i can solve this problem.

Or even better can someone tell me why this is happening

A) You're unqualified to do SEO and should get some help fast so clients don't sue ur arse for stupidity.

B) There are a couple reasons why, a) you're an idiot and kept some code / titles on the wrong site, b) links with the anchor text point to the wrong site.

Either way you're asking a basic question and if your clients saw this they'd beat you with some type of computer beating thing....

well its easy to say those things, but you havent actually given me a reason why its doing it.

There are no codes connecting the site they are done on different servers coded by different people.

I think it has something to do with the news on our homepage.

As news is regularly updated would it be best to use

<meta content="noarchive" name="robots" />

As the google blog recommend doing so and i have noticed many people doing this.

Assuming that there are no links to the children's heart federation site using anchor text for Landmark Chambers, and no accidental code sharing, then I would say it's safe to assume that both sites share relevance based on co-citation and possibly LSI. By referring, and linking, to both sites from the same page on your site, and both sites sharing a similar "Site by Intendance" link back to yours, Google's algorithm appears to be associating them together, particularly since "Landmark Chambers" isn't a generic search term for which it would have previous data.

There are probably other smaller factors as well, such as page structure footprints that share a high degree of similarity between the two sites. I notice that both sites use files from intendance2.clients.squiz.co.uk -- why??? They also both belong to the same Google Account (look at the Analytics code).

Because the children's heart federation is a much stronger site in terms of back links, it's now ranking above Landmark Chambers, compounding the problem since user behaviour can affect search results, and they're getting clicks.

If this is indeed the problem, then ironically, by posting about the issue here, you are in effect, strengthening the ties between the two sites!

All I can suggest to remedy the situation is to try to distance the two sites. Don't mention them together on the same page, make sure that there's no html code and footprints that could link them. Similarly, build the strength of the back links to the weaker site, paying attention to the anchor text.

That means ur site has not enough competitive power.

Maybe ur site is too young, maybe it has not enough backlinks related to that keyword.

why not try build more backlinks, and ur ranking will level up gradually.
