Stock Articles as Duplicate Content?

Hi,

If I purchase content from sites that offer articles/blog posts but this is elsewhere on the internet is it seen as duplicate content. What are the SEO implications of doing this? Thanks!

Yes, you are correct. It will be seen as duplicate content.

If the articles are on other websites that are more powerful than yours then your articles will either.... A) be filtered from the SERPs... or.... B) will rank lower and not get much traffic.

If you publish lots of these duplicate articles you will fill your site with unproductive content and lots of your pagerank will flow into unproductive pages.

So, if you plan to publish syndicated content, you should do it because you already have visitors who will consume it not because you hope that it will attract visitors from the SERPs.

I highly recommend you re-think your content strategy. The most important part of SEO is content. Content is what drives links and traffic to your website.

This is not my content strategy. I was just curious as to how this would be seen. You can go to my site and see that I have already created unique content. jasinternetmarketing/jas-content

purchasing content from other sites

I think your thinking will harm your site in the long run. You need to do lot of hard work for converting those articles, actually , physically rewriting and then put on the site. That would be O.K.

If you purchase content that is pre-used (assuming the person selling content is allowed) then there is nothing wrong with it and it will not hurt you at all. As stated above 2 things will happen you will either be listed in the sup index or lower ranking.

I suggest if you purchase the content that you re-write it to some degree... Like you would with any PLR, rewrite it and do not use it as-is ...

James
