Special Characters in Page Titles ✤

This will probably have already been asked, and i did a quick search and noticed bits and pieces about this, but would like to know the latest views on this practice.

Do people think you can be penalised for using special characters in page titles?

I hope you won't be penalised,as Google recognises some symbols which are ASCII standard. As per my knowledge the symbol you had used is "ASCII &#9827". There is no harm

Thanks. The symbol is relevant to the subject of my site too, and whilst i know it won't do anything for keywords etc, it will look good and fit with the "brand".

Just don't want it to incur any algorithmic penalty.

Just Google the special character and see what you get, for example google ✤. No results found because Google does not recognize the character. This is why I no longer use pipes in my titles.

Does any of this make any difference? Probably not

I don't think that using such special symbols will harm but on your place I wouldn't use them.
