    Spam score 65% on MOZ

    Hi All,

just subscribed for a 1-month free trial on Moz.com and ran my website through.
The results are not promising to be honest. Some of you were right - I lost a decent amount
of backlinks (both high-quality and toxic) and experienced a significant drop in ranking.
Further to this - my spam score (Represents the percentage of sites with similar features
we've found to be penalized or banned by Google) sits at 65% which falls under red/risky category.
Does anyone know what attributes effect this score? Can I somehow get rid of this in future?

You really need to change your methods concerning link building.

If you don't change the way you acquire links, how do you think you can avoid this in the future.

    One Definition of Insanity:
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results !

    1. If I could go to any of the sites you have built links on and get a link right now, then get rid of that site. When it is that easy, every wanna-be link builder has already spammed a link or two.
    2. Your best friend here may just be a Google disavow file. This will tell Google to ignore these links. it will take time for the effect to take place.
    3. Find a post on the forum made by the user "Chedders". In his sig line is a link to "Backlinkging 101" -- click it, read it. Then read it again.
    4. Read all the threads posted by reputable members here on link building. Read them, then read them again.

What exactly does Moz look at to determine the spam score, haven't a clue, I don't work for Moz. Ask Moz via there support channels, and their support forum. I am sure they will tell you more about it.

You avoid this in the future by changing your methods to acquire links !

It's like asking an Italian restraunt why your Chinese noodles don't taste right. Ask Moz!

That's a risk that Moz attaches to it, it's not Google and dont let them make you think it is, Google doesn't give that information out, so there's no way to tell, just guesses.
