So Close but Yet Miles Away!
I have been able to get my sites up to the third page for Google on a lot of keywords but I seem to be stuck there. I got into the first pages for a couple of days while the Google SERPs were all over the place but now I am just lingering on the 3rd page.
I guess my question is can this be considered a good sign or is the thrid page fairly easy to achieve? |

I usually look when I search for something on first two pages.
And most people do that way. Last edited by zokiiii : May 27th, 2006 at 10:32 AM. |

Normally, to break into the top 30 positions is a good sign. The bad sign is that 95-98% of clicks occur within the first 10 results. Relevant BLs from good sources gets you there (page 1). Once you are there, content gets you the conversions.

Be patient, my experience has been that they hover there for awhile... it's like oblivion to page 6-10... hover, 6-10 to page 3-5... hover, then top ten. I'm assuming that you've got as good or better links than others and that your pages are reasonably well optimized and contain unique content.
Things may be changing with Big Daddy though. Are your sites losing any previously indexed pages? I say that because I had one recently go from the hover at page 3 drop to page 10 and now it's back to page 5. This is the only site that I've lost a few previously indexed pages on so it may be a matter of the trust/quality of the inbounds.

If you're on page 3, then you're at least indexed and out of the sandbox. Just keep building quality links and you should be able to get to the top page. Check out where the top few sites are getting their backlinks and try to get listed on the same sites.

My inbound links have actualy been growing well lately and Google seems to be giving me more link credits... I was like FogHorn, barely cracking the top ten pages, falling out of the top ten, then coming back in and I further optimized my sites and starting a big link building push.
Since then I have been hovering around the third page but I with barely a budget, I am running out of link building options. I am now offering to barter my directory submission services in exchange for some quality links... What I lack in money I can offer in time. |
