    Site validation?

I have my own website and have been trying my best to optimize it to getting the best page rank I can.

I've started trying to build inbound links before I consider asking for link exchanges.

I've been using a site called

    xinureturns.com

this tells me all my keywords page rank, backlinks etc.

Although it shows that my xhtml is not valid.

Now I have done my best to correct this and have narrowed it down to just 3 errors and 1 warning. Only problem is that these errors are being caused by java scripts from site counters etc.

Is there any way I can keep these counters and get rid of these errors.

    And

Does having a valid code help your page rank or does it have no effect?

    thanks for any help

Validation has no effect on page rank. Having valid code can ensure a better user experience (functionality-wise) which might cause more people to link to you, but it has no direct effect in regards to SEO.

I understand where your coming from Roa but i'd always advise to try and be a complient as possible as Google could easily announce tomorrow that validation is going to be key in their algorithim, so why take the risk?

Also pages submitted to sites such as digg mightn't load in certain browsers etc due to werid CSS.

I'm not saying validation shouldn't be done, but the OP asked if it would help his PR which it would not. If I tried to speculate on everything Google might do tomorrow, I'd go crazy. What they do today is already enough for my plate right now.

Valid html will not improve your rankings, 'though - as already mentioned - it might improve your site usabilty in all browsers.

Personally I would lose the counters but you could also consider the possibility of adding the java to external files which should allow you to validate your code.

    Thanks for the replies

The counters are stat counters for my site and for topsite lists that I am a member of.

Nice to see people actively posting in this forum rather than completely disregarding the new people.
