Site dropped from position 1 to page 7

Hi Guys,

For the last couple of years my companies website has always been on page 1 of google and most of the time even position 1 for our most searched for keyword.

However in the last couple weeks all of the pages on the website have lost there page rank and the site is now on page 7 for our best keyword! Please note most of the pages did have a page rank of 3.

Has anyone got any ideas why this may be?

Also is there a way of removing incoming links to your site as I have some weird links from sites and have read these can harm rankings? Is this true?

Any help or suggestions would be great.

Your competitors may be working that much harder. Or you may have been flagged as spam, or for manipulative linking.

I don't think links to you can hurt you.

Check your backlinks, either some of them have been outdated or now less valuable. Create more backlinks and get updated like your competitors.

When you say get updated like your competitors what do you mean and if there are backlinks that are outdated is there a way to get rid of them?

What are you referring to when you say neighborhood?

When you linked on your website bad neighborhood which sites devaluted by Google and also getting from these kind of sites.......

re organize your web content. put meta tags in the proper position. update your back links.

Firstly the incomming links will not hurt you.

As to why such a sudden drop there could be many reasons. The most obvious (to me) would be the sudden loss of Link Juice. You may have lost a significant link/s that was powering your site. This would/could also explain the loss of PR after the last update.

There are numerous other possible explainations such as an algo tweek that has shifted your relevance/trust for those keywords.

Some other questions that may help people help you more...

The complete loss of PR do you mean white PR bar or grey PR bar?

Have the other sites on page 1 for those terms changed their rankings significantly?

Have you been doing anything against google Terms of Service?

Do you buy links?

Has your rankings changed on the other SEs?

Has your host changed something?

Has your site been hacked and had hiden links inserted?

Have you got people in other countries/locations to check that your page is loading alright?

Has you site been down for a period of time recently?

Have you changed your site significantly recently?

These are a few things to consider. I wish you the best on recovering your rankings....

It is a part of on page optimization. so better put meta content in the proper order so that search engine can easily identify the keywords to be optimize.

Still form good meta descriptions though, when your site appears in google this will be displayed, if done correctly could generate more traffic.

Your listing in google will contain a link which is the url, description of page which is meta description and a live link which is your title tag.

You just guess or you have prof.......
