You won't find any step-by-step -- 1,2,3 SEO guide to ranking $$$ success that's free or cheap which requires you to only follow exacting instructions and you're done; making $$$$$$$$$$....

That type of source requires you to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$... in advance. [it's like a mortgage]

I agree that forums like this is a great place to get your foot in the door.

I do suggest that you spend $20-$50 and buy a couple of books. I like Search Engine Optimization for Dummies 2nd edition. These books give you a systematic approach instead of feeding you piecemeals. Also these books cover just about everything you need to be aware of. With the knowledge from these books, you can frequent these forums and online blogs to learn more.

If you are really into SEO, investing some money is worth it, since the return can be huge if you do it right.

I have found this to be on of the best training sites around. No one has an agenda except to help. How can you use this site effectively to learn? Here are my suggestions.

Read the F.A.Q.s (perhaps start by posting your questions in the right forum not the Google optimization forum).

I am not going to reword what has already been said... basically you got your answer... however I would highly recommend you try and find a seo mentor, if your a hard worker and you are willing to learn it is a win win situation... its the fastest way to learn and you will learn practice not just theory...
