SEO professionals, do you use google analytics for your clients.

All you seo professionals, do you use google analytics for your clients, do you use the graphs etc to show your clients.

Is it a tool worth getting to know to enhance the seo service you provide to your clients.

I prefer www.web-stat.com it provides much easier to access graphs and better statistics IMO. It does require pasting the tracking code into each page you wish to track which Google Analytics doesn't. For me web-stat is much more user and client friendly.

Google Analytics

Its worth learning. There are many things that you can use it for. Testing landing pages, tracking marketing campaigns (even other ppc campaigns), site layovers, bounce pages and dozens of other useful tools.

Visio has a great breakdown of its uses. You should look him up.

I love Google Analytics. There is a learning curve to get all the value available, but it is well worth the time. SEO is only a tiny part of the value available from analyzing what GA provides.

Do you think that Google cross reference the stats in GA with the search engine? And if so this could be a double edged sword.. imagine your site ranks well, but visitors don't hang around then maybe google will penalise you..

if you have no GA then google will never know, however they may decide to promote sites with GA higher in the ranking..

maybe i am just being paranoid!

Hmmmm... For some reason, I've always thought site stickiness was important. I've always told my clients to not shut their site too soon if they've clicked a listing link to it. Visit a few pages first.

I mean to say your clients can only see reports for assigned sites, for example : if you have 3 sites in your GA account and you assign 2 site to your client then your client can see reports for that 2 sites. You can give access for "view reports" or administrator.

No, its not possible, if you can give accesss to see reports, then your client can see every reports.

I hope this information will clear your doubt.

I personally use a combination of 2-3 tools like awstats, freestats and google analytics. Each one complements other....google is the best for geo map and awstats gives the complete hits received+no of unique visitors+referring sources+blah blah blah....

So my take would be dont use any single tool use more than one...it gives a better picture to present.....

from what ive seen google analytics is a good tool, but there are a large number of others that do more, may cost a bit but do more.

we use indextools, but im sure there are 20 others that could do a similar job

I use 2 ... why? Well because Awstats show real time convertions. And why Google Analytics? Because has more info than Awstats

But refering to the first post i do show graphs and real numbers with a detail analysis of where and how we are doing... i know maybe you are asking why cant i just print a google analytic ? page well this is very easy to explain:

-I will look more proffesional if you make your own graphs.

-You can include information that you really need to show them... a regular guy will not understand some terms like google[organic], Referals, Direct, Location from the Web, IPs, ect.
