Search engine submission

I am a newbie at this. I just checked the indexed pages from the seo toolbars. The engine count for google is 0. I have two sites and they are both 0. Does this mean my site is not submitted? Can I check this somewhere? Actually, what does this mean? I don't show anywhere on google's page rank at all. This site has been up for about 4 years. It doesn't come up anywhere on a page rank. Could it possible no be submitted to google? Any help is much appreciated. thanks

go to google and do the following:

type in "site:yourURL.com" and Google will show you what is indexed and what not.

If nothing is indexed, dont worry they will come sooner or later. Dont waste too much time for it, rather try to get links to your site and Google will be there soon.

site submission

this site has been up for four years. shouldn't something be showing for the indexed pages by now? The site also has quite a few links. I'm concerned that it was never submitted or there is a problem. Thanks.

If your site has never been optimized, submitted, and you have zero incoming links there is a very good chance you aren't indexed.

Have you done any optimization?

I have been told the site was optimized. I have links backwards and forwards. I have personally verified all links. I know something is wrong when I don't show up at all on google. I did type in the site:url.com and it showed pages of mine on google. However the seo index tool shows 0. Any thoughts?

Yes... if the Google "site " command shows results then your site is indexed and the tool is wrong.
Either way there's no need to submit a site to Google (ever). They will find it as soon as you have an incoming link on an indexed page.
If you don't have all your pages indexed you need more incoming links; links to deeper pages on your site would be particularly helpful in this regard.
If your rankings aren't high enough you need to rethink your strategy: Look at the top results for the keywords you are targetting and see how many incoming links they have... (don't use Google for this, use Yahoo); If they have way more links than you could ever dream of you need to target easier keywords... If you are "in the running" then you need to look at your incoming anchors and on-site optimisation to find where you're going wrong.

Good luck

Submitting to search engines is a basic primary step...since you have already submitted it,now forget it.Try to build backlinks to your site.building backlinks is the best way to get indexed.Links are counted as currency to bribe the search engines to get you that extra favour from search engines ....u know what i mean...

There are a lot of free directories that will list your url in a very less time and sooner you will get noticed by the search engines.....dont worry just keep doin on page optimization and build links....sooner you will see the results....

It the most foolish step. You have two options to get your site indexed.

1. Submit to search engines and wait for 3-6 weeks to just get into their index (plz keep in mind that being in index and ranking are 2 entirely different things)

2. Get links from some high PR pages and you'll be in the index in no time.

Now the choice is your's

Well if the site is online since 4 years and you have links pointing to your site did you ever think about that you are in the index NOT ANYMORE instead of NOT YET?
