    Exclamation Say Goodbye to <h1>???

I am seeing an increase in the amount of "SEO" websites using an <h1> header tag, and now see more and more just having an <h2> as thier top level heading. I have heard rumors that since the <h1> has been overused so much for keyword stuffing, that it is better to start with an <h2> instead. For instance this site uses an <h2> as the top-level header.

What are you guys opinion on this subject. Is the <h2> now the new top-level header?? Thanks.

This on-page thing is moving in "circles". The exact same thing has happened many months ago LOL

So that means that shifting focus from h1 to h2 is in fact a bit "retro". Cool

Does this make sense to you ?

Just another ungrounded SEO rumor... ;-)

It is always necessary to be creative in SEO and it is also necessary to use tags as they were intended. If you do you will not fail.

No is the answer to that. H1 carries slightly more weight than an H2.
An H1 used properly (ie first - as the main heading as intended) along with an H2 carries even more weight.

You can format it how ever you want in any event so what difference does it make?
