Sandbox Affect or Penalty for using Google as part of keyword phrase?

About a month ago, a friend put togather a page talking about his efforts with the Google Compute Project - it's really a good cause for those folks with a few idle CPU cycles and using the Google toolbar - I bet that is everyone here?!? ;-)

So I decided to "help out" and put a link to his page from my PR7 personal home page, figuring this would not only help is PR, but should help in the SERP's - the targeted keywords are "google toolbar compute" (but NOT quoted in searches) and there was some primitive (I do this as a hobby - at best) SEO done to the page (was there anything obvious I missed?)

There are few other links scattered around (this is another!), but after a month, it was STILL not in the top-100 for the keyword phrase "google toolbar compute" ... but then I saw RustyBrick talking about the sandbox effect in another thread and if you add a buncha -negative keywords, you can negate this ... so I tried this big ol' search string ... and this page lists as #3 right after the actual Google Compute web pages! ;-)

I'm not sure this can be entirely accounted for by the "sandbox effect" ... because I finally decided to look at other keyword variations (see below) and there is lotsa action for those ... but definately some sort of penalty (it seems) when I use the word Google (?)

    Any comments/thoughts - thanx!
    alek

P.S. The page still (after a month and the PR/BL update), still ranks as PR0 - confused why no page rank was passed too.

If you were being penalized for using "google" in the kw phrase, then all the pages that do show up high in the serps wouldn't be there either - as they also use google in the kw phrase.

The only keyword phrase with Google in it that shows up in the top-100 is "google toolbar compute folding" - no others do, although couple of those are probably semi-competitive such as "Google Toolbar"

I guess to simplify a bit, why does http://www.powder2glass.com/Google_Toolbar_Compute/ show up as #8 for "compute toolbar" but is not even listed for "Google compute toolbar" even though the page is designed for the later and the incoming anchor text uses this? And how come if I use RustyBrick's approach (adding the -negative keywords), it shows up #3?!?

Was #23 (now #18) for google toolbar compute folding.
Otherwise yep, nada for anything with google in it that I listed above.

Is there something like keyphrase filter

I am also having a similar problem, Hulkster.
Someone told me that it might be because of some keyphrase filter. If you have the same phrase in link text, title, and on page and maybe in h1 also. I have a feeling that it might be to filter seo over enthusiasts.
