Reseller Web Hosting and Google

I am in the process of setting up some web hosting to offer to my clients and I will be putting a small link back to my design and hosting site. Now I know there are some places that give you an IP and you host everything through there, it is known that Google Frowns on such things as this. Might any one know of anything that I can do or suggest a place to use where it would not likely get Google thinking that I am link farming or what not. I am not anywhere near the point where I can afford a T1 Line and Block of IPs.

Does anyone have any experience with this or should I just spread my clients all over the place to different hostings? Talk about a possible nightmare.

Thanks
Steve

Interesting question and I would love to see what others have to say on this.

I know that I own numerous domains that are under sharded hosting and I never have paid the additional monthly charges to get a unique IP address. I haven't seen any effect on this with my Google rankings/PR.

Shared IP addresses are so common that I can't see why Google would be penalizing a group of sites that share an IP and also link to one another.

I have to imagine that G takes that into consideration in some fashion, though. If I were them, one of the first spam checks I would do is check the incoming links to see if they were all from the same IP or block of IPs... Of course, because of the nature of web hosting/reselling, it wouldn't be enough evidence to peanalize the site, but I wouldn't give those links as much weight, either.

Like I said, I'm new to all of this. But from what I see, Google favors the robust. A smattering of inbound links from other sites in addition wouldn't hurt.

Try posting your question at the ABW board http://abw.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x

That is an affiliate marketing board and you may find some people on there that are presently doing reseller hosting and they may be able to answer this question.

I believe they have a SE forum on their site. That would be the best category to post this under.
