    Relevant Keywords in Content

Apart from moderate keyword stuffing, would it help if i include relevant keywords in the content. Suppose let's say i have a page on desktop Computers, would it help me in terms of ranking for "desktop computers" if i include laptops, computer software, dell, toshiba etc. in the content?

in terms of ranking for "desktop computers"
Use that only in your Title, headings, bold, anchortext, alt tags...

Using other KWs will divert your priorities.. if you want to ranl for 'desktop computers'....

Get 1000s of BLs with 'desktop computers' as anchor text...

I don't agree. Absolutely have a primary kw on each page that has the most weight. But having related terms will also help.

    • kichus agrees : my answer was just for the quoted one...
    • sufyaaan agrees : Using your Primary KW in the copy of your page that you're optimizing it for, will make a difference. Especially in competitive KW areas.

Is it that only backlinks gets counted for getting top SERP? Does it mean that if i outnumber my competitior in number of backlinks, do I get #1?

They should be more RELEVANT too... the number exactly won't give you ranks.. but the Reputation got from them. Especially in Google. And as far as i know, MSN and Yahoo are having some % considerting the on-site(page) factors too..

But in GEneral, can't say which is more important...

Everything (title, description, content, relevancy, structure, updation, Back links, submission etc, etc….) must be in proper way and correct ratio. The #1 position is directly proportional to all these factors. You can not get it with single or few of them.

Can be compared with a recipe in which all the ingredients are equally important for making tasty food.

Add your keyword and variations of it to your body text and ensure the keyword/s are also surrounded by relevent text.

Place around 20 words either before or after the keyword/s and if big G is in a good mood he'll display this block of text in description for the listing in the search results

It will read well - get a good CTR - and also rank well

    Boom boom shake the room

    Happy DEc 1st peeps!

Having content related to your primary KWP probably helps establish some credibility with regards to the KWP (in a fashion similar to using different variations of a keyword like fridge, refridgerator, freezer, icebox, etc.).

One thing is sure though - using related words will help your page rank well on KWPs that you are not specifically targeting and bring in good quality traffic.
